I want to make it clear that, I have never have been, or ever will be  a twitcher. Two reasons. One, I enjoy birds for the simple pleasure of seeing them and any list I make is purely for my reference. Two, twitching is normally a gregarious activity and I do not do crowds. To me if someone says good morning that’s a crowd. If I mention any particular bird it is because it gave me/us a buzz, like the kingfisher that gave us a show when we stopped for lunch.

The ferry crossing to Ireland passes Skomer. It was a year ago that I spent a week on the island as a volunteer warden. Nice to see it and some of the birds from a different angle.

Pembury to Bury port. Sand dunes, with scrub, mud flats and sand banks. Worth a look.

Our Lady’s lake, county Wexford. Very peaceful, and some good birds. Nice to sit on the grass, hear and see the birds.

Ring of Kerry.  In good weather it has lots of potential.
