Who mentioned a picnic, idiot. It started on Sunday the 13th, the rain that is, for a solid twenty four hours. It improved again during the week, and then, on Friday it started again. It rained heavily during the night and into Saturday morning. Went to pick up a paper on Saturday morning to be told by a local that a little way up the road it was snowing, thought it was a wind up, wrong.  Isla Plana is a few metres above sea level. To get to Cartagena the road winds up through the mountains to a height of around five hundred metres. When the rain finally stopped and we could see the mountains, sure enough snow on the tops.

The locals loved it, we assume it is a rare event for them and they were going to make the best of it, hundreds of them, all ages. They were doing all the things that you associate with snow apart from one thing, taking it away in carrier bags.
